Where is this service hosted?

What is the uptime commitment?
We target 99.9% uptime over the year, measured monthly.
How does technical support work?
Our engineers are reachable by email (contact@asncloud.fr) and by phone during business hours. Extended 24/7 support is available on request.
Is there a minimum commitment period?
Not by default: our plans come with no commitment and monthly billing. 12- or 36-month commitments are available with preferential rates.
How does an isolated instance differ from a shared datastore at other hosting providers?
With most managed PBS competitors, all customers share a single PBS with separate datastores but the same daemon, the same RAM and the same CPU. At ASN CLOUD, each customer has their own complete PBS instance: a dedicated virtual machine, full segregation, customizable configuration (retention policies, verification jobs), no impact from neighbors and no risk of cross-tenant leakage.
What is Proxmox Backup Server?
PBS is a professional open source backup solution developed by Proxmox Server Solutions, designed to efficiently back up VMs, containers and physical servers with deduplication, client-side AES-256 encryption and granular retention.
How do I connect to my PBS instance?
You receive your credentials at delivery (web URL, username, password). The web interface is accessible on port 8007 over HTTPS from your browser. For standalone Linux sources, the 'proxmox-backup-client' CLI client lets you run backups from the OS.
Can I restrict access to specific public IPs?
Yes. On request, we set up network filtering that only allows access to your PBS instance from the public IPs you provide us (your sites' fixed addresses, VPN egress points, carrier ranges). Any connection from an unlisted IP is blocked upstream of the instance, including on the web interface and the backup clients.
Is encryption included?
Yes, AES-256-GCM on the client side. The encryption key is generated and kept by you. ASN CLOUD has no access to it and cannot read your backups. Important: keep your key in a safe place, as without it the backups are unrecoverable.
How does deduplication work?
PBS splits each backup into blocks, computes a checksum per block and stores identical blocks only once. As a result, the second backup of the same VM often takes only 10 to 20% of the initial size. Keep multiple retention points without storage exploding.
Can I restore a single file without restoring the entire VM?
Yes. PBS includes 'file restore': from the web interface, browse the contents of a VM backup and extract an individual file or folder without restoring the entire machine.
Can I scale my capacity later?
Yes, at any time from your customer portal. You move up or down a tier at the next billing cycle. The additional space is available immediately, with no migration and no service interruption.
Where is my data stored?
In our regional datacenters in Lyon and Grenoble, operated by ASN NET SASU. Storage on arrays with redundant hardware RAID, tolerant to disk failures. Data held exclusively in France, under French jurisdiction.
Is there a minimum commitment period?
No. Monthly billing with no commitment, cancellation at any time via your client portal, effective at the next billing cycle.
Compatible with VMware vSphere or Hyper-V?
Not natively. PBS has no direct integration with VMware or Hyper-V: however, you can install the PBS client inside your Windows or Linux VMs and back up at the application level.
