FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where is this service hosted?

In our regional datacenters in Lyon and Grenoble, operated by ASN NET SASU. Your data stays exclusively in France.

What is the uptime commitment?

We target 99.9% uptime over the year, measured monthly.

How does technical support work?

Our engineers are reachable by email (contact@asncloud.fr) and by phone during business hours. Extended 24/7 support is available on request.

Is there a minimum commitment period?

Not by default: our plans come with no commitment and monthly billing. 12- or 36-month commitments are available with preferential rates.

What is the difference between a dedicated server and a VPS?

A VPS is a virtual machine that shares physical hardware with other instances on the same host. A dedicated server reserves an entire physical machine for you - CPU, RAM, disks, network card. No neighbors, no contention, and you can install a hypervisor yourself to virtualize as needed.

What is IPMI access and what is it used for?

IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) is a low-level management interface built into the server motherboard. It lets you administer the machine as if you were physically in front of it: BIOS console, hardware reboot, OS installation from an ISO image, failure diagnostics. IPMI access is included with all our plans.

What is the delivery time?

A dedicated server requires physical work on the hardware: allow 24 to 72 business hours between order confirmation and access provisioning. For an urgent go-live, contact us beforehand - we can prepare hardware on standby.

Which operating systems are supported?

We offer Debian, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux and Windows Server with automated installation. For virtualization, we support Proxmox VE and VMware ESXi. Any other OS or custom image remains available on request.

Can I install my own OS or hypervisor?

Yes. Thanks to IPMI access, you can boot from your own ISO image and install the OS of your choice. We can also prepare the server with your custom image before delivery.

What happens in the event of a hardware failure?

Our teams operate directly on site in Lyon or Grenoble. Common spare parts (disks, RAM modules, power supplies) are available in stock for fast service restoration, typically within a few business hours.

Can I upgrade my server after ordering?

Yes. At any time you can order additional disks (SSD, NVMe, HDD), extra RAM, additional IPv4 addresses, or NFS or PBS backup space. Adding physical hardware is scheduled with you within a short maintenance window.

What happens if I exceed the guaranteed bandwidth?

Each server has a physical 1 Gbit/s port and can burst up to that rate without limit to absorb traffic peaks. The 300 Mbit/s is the continuously guaranteed throughput, not a cap: you have access to the full port capacity at any time, with no extra charge.

Is the hardware truly dedicated?

Yes, unambiguously. Each plan corresponds to a complete physical machine entirely reserved for your use: no ASN Cloud virtualization, no other customer on the same motherboard. You can use the server as a virtualization host for your own needs if you wish.
